Weekly Nest Notes: Fantastic Fledglings, Excellent Explorers

image

E17 and E18 are off on amazing adventures now that E18 took an exceptional first flight from the nest tree. No one would have guessed that a rainy morning would result in E18′s fledging with wet wings and all. In the short time since they took their initial voyages, they are mastering more skills. They are agile and beautiful fliers as they twist, turn, and land with precision.

Each adjusted to being on the ground and flying up and away with little effort.

Fearless E17 and E18′s jaunts carry them throughout the territory to seek new perches and exciting experiences.

E17 and E18 have quickly discovered the delight of the pasture pond. E18 was the first to take the plunge and frolic in the water. E18 is a natural, taking a first refreshing bath and flying to the fence to dry off. E17 was curious but cautious of the water, stayed at the edge, and grabbed for items of interest. M15 dropped food in the pasture for E17 and E18 to practice the beginning of their hunting lessons. They were distracted by all the new sights and surroundings to finish the prey. This time Dad brought it to the nest for them to eat, but the next time Mom, Dad, or another hungry Eagle may take it.

Harriet and M15 have reared strong and competent offspring over their years together. E17 and E18 are among the most accomplished of them and appear to be ahead of their time. Mom and Dad will continue to care for and help them refine their abilities over the coming weeks. E17 and E18 are developing into fantastic fledglings and excellent explorers navigating their passage to majesty.  Nest Notes by dadsjazz
