M15 and F23 have become a perfect team as they execute nest duty exchanges. M15 is more than willing to take over incubating their precious Eggs. F23 coaxes him to give up his turn to her with soft vocals and gentle nudging. M15, in his usual style, will arrive with a stick or mound of grass, place some on her back, and dig around the nest to get her off the Eggs. They usually have a short discussion, and then one will go for a well-deserved break. Although F23 usually takes the long overnight shift, M15 has arrived to relieve her in the early morning hours.
M15 and F23 continually recommit to their future, tend to their Eggs, bring in nesting materials, and keep their bond strong. M15 delivers food for F23. She seems to have become more comfortable eating on the nest at times. F23 still enjoys a meal on the front snag or the office oak. Most of the time, they eat away from the nest, possibly to keep anyone looking for a free meal away.
M15 and F23 constantly survey the territory and keep the area secure. The pesky Owls tried to land in the nest tree but were met with vocal alerts. F23’s message is to stay away as she has warded off their intentions. A Sub Adult Eagle landed on the attic branch at night, getting intense vocal signals from F23. The Sub Adult may have wanted a safe overnight place to roost and didn’t look to pose a threat. F23 still kept her eye on it and sent an occasional alert. M15 flew in to drive the Eagle away. M15 and F23 are formidable defenders of their nest and Eggs. They will use all their instincts and abilities to ensure the success of their family. Nest Notes by dadsjazz.
