M15 and F23 have introduced E24 and E25 to various prey items over the past week. The menu, in addition to fish, included a rabbit, different birds, and some things that were not identifiable. All this good nutrition is contributing to their rapid growth. Feet, tails, and wings are bumping out. E24 and E25 preen their emerging thermal down, allowing them to regulate their temperatures. Tiny pin feathers are developing on their wing tips.
E24 and E25 are surpassing milestones as they enter their third week of Eagle life. They scoot around the nest, explore, and expand their views. They nap on the rails of the outer nest bole and peek at the outside world. They enjoy most of their time in the warm open air. E24 and E25 sit and preen, stretch upward, and flap little wings. They track the movements of M15 and F23 as they come and go. They spend some overnight hours alone in the nest with Dad and Momma perched above.
M15 and F23 join E24 and E25 on the nest to offer shade from the hot sun or shelter from the rain. E24 and E25 now begin to anticipate food arrivals and step up to eat. M15 and F23 have done an outstanding job with tandem feedings of E24 and E25. There is some sibling rivalry, which is expected, but most feedings are calm, and both Eaglets are satisfied.
