Hi Everyone,
If you plan on traveling to the nest, we have come up with a few guidelines to keep you safe when visiting. Please remember the closer you are to the nest, the less you can see. The best viewing location is from your desktop at home. While we don’t encourage visiting the nest site, know it is a surreal experience to see the Eagles up close & in “real life” if visiting the area.
We discourage large group gatherings and if the objective is to socialize, share images and information, please consider an alternate location to gather where you can easily swap stories, observations, talk and laugh without concern for impacts to the eagle family especially during the sensitive times of egg laying, incubation & fledging.
Eagle Watching Etiquette (recommendations for avoiding disturbance to the nesting eagles):
- Park in a safe location and remain in or immediately next to your vehicle while viewing.
- Do not approach the nest directly or attempt to flush out an Eagle from its perch or resting location.
- Avoid loud noises, such as yelling, door slamming, or horn honking.
- Do not feed the horses in the pastures. Many are on a strict diet & some unfriendly.
- We strongly discouraged pets of any kind visiting the viewing areas. Bayshore Road is a very busy road and new animal sounds can cause added stress to the eagles.
- Maintain a buffer of 330 feet from the nest as stated by law and respect restricted & gated areas.
While the neighboring church is welcoming to eagle watchers, please respect their land, parking lot and building. Do not leave trash or debris of any kind.
Please remember the closer you are to the nest, the less you can see. The best viewing location is from your desktop at home.
