The New Year has begun. Harriet and Ozzie and hatchlings E5 and E6 have settled down into their new family roles. Ozzie, the great Provider, continues to deliver a wide variety of prey to feed hungry and growing E5 and E6. Harriet, the devoted Eagle Mom, took excellent care of her precious babies. Harriet and Ozzie both take eaglet rearing very seriously and they share feeding, brooding and protecting their babies. E5 and E6 were quick to learn how to wrestle for position to get to the food. They are very closely matched in size so their competitions are over as fast as they start. All these interactions will help them to grow strong and give them skills they will need to survive in the wild.
Harriet and Ozzie’s senses and instincts are extremely heightened at this critical time. Several “visitors” flew into the area and the very protective parents sounded the “No Intruders Alert”. A few juvenile eagles landed in the nest tree maybe because it is a food source or maybe out of out of curiosity. Eventually the intruders were driven off.
Harriet and Ozzie have both had their share of struggles but both have followed through with the committed care of their precious cargo. Eagle life continues to show the trials and challenges they must overcome in the continuation of their species. E5 and E6 are progressing beautifully in their early journey. They are growing by leaps and bounds and have ventured out of the nest bowl showing their adventurous spirit. Harriet and Ozzie’s bond is strong and ever growing as they shared intimate moments together.
