SWFL Eagles ~ E19 Very Aggressive To E20 ~ Viewer Discretion Advised! 1.17.22

Lady Hawk - This video contains footage showing sibling aggression. Viewer discretion advised for those sensitive viewers. M15 flies in with a nice fish and lands right next to E20. M starts to feed E19 and as soon as E20 tried to get up, E19 became aggressive. Over the next several minutes, E19 continued its aggression every time E20 moved. E20 was submissive and kept its head down which is normal and smart. At one point, E19 pulls E20's wing while E20 tried to get away and pulls at E20's head. E20 remained submissive and finally E19 concentrated on eating rather than on aggression towards E20. This is not unexpected or unusual to see especially considering the bad weather recently and the delay in some feedings. Sibling rivalry is normal at this stage anyway and is a part of every bald eagle nest. E19 is older & is the more aggressive eaglet and has established the pecking order here on the nest. It is mostly due to food aggression, but sibling rivalry can occur by itself as well. However, with adequate prey brought in, the sibling rivalry should be manageable. Fortunately, the eaglets do outgrow sibling rivalry in the upcoming weeks as we have seen in previous seasons here at SWFEC. It is hard to watch at times but understanding why it happens will make it easier to handle. Thank you for watching! Video captured & edited by Lady Hawk Thank you SWFEC , hosted by Dick Pritchett Real Estate, for allowing us the opportunity to view these amazing eagles.
