Ian passed through the Fort Myers area on September 28. The strong category 4 hurricane caused major damage (both wind and flooding) in the area. Power is still out at SWFEC. The cameras and PTZs are offline.
There was damage to some of the buildings on the Pritchett (cam owners) property. So far there is not much information. The fence was damaged and is being worked on.
Harriet and M15’s nest didn’t survive the storm, but the nest tree is still standing. There appears to be some branches missing on the east side. The upper attic branch that was supported by an east branch appears to have fallen. It is not clear if Nest2 in the west pasture is still there. Updates and photos will be posted as available. Photos below are credited to MLiz.
UPDATE for 9/29/2022 7:35pm: We are happy to share that all cameras are accounted for – Camera 1 (nest tree), Camera 2 and Camera 3 (pond cam). Unfortunately, the tree that Camera 3 was installed (pond cam) fell. The camera is still attached and appears to not have any obvious damage. There are a few others trees down near the pond. There was some damage to the storage barns (roofs, doors and they took in lots of water).
