KeymasterHello Nisee! Most days we will post a thread titled “OPEN DISCUSSION” on this forum. This thread is for viewers to share their thoughts, questions, scaps, and observations. Threads that begin with “SWFEC Season 11 and the Date” are daily observations posted by members of the SWFEC group. In order to keep the new observations in order (in the replies) for that day please don’t reply to the posts in these threads. Instead, use the “OPEN DISCUSSION” thread for posting. Please do not create new topics in the forum. Only reply on the “OPEN DISCUSSION” threads. Thank you for your help as we adjust to this new way of posting observations. Thank you!
At this time we have not received any word that Harriet and M15 have been observed in the pasture area. Please keep checking the threads for today for any updates. Thank you.

KeymasterHello Dersu76. I’m really not sure why the timestamp is incorrect. Will check that out. Thank you.

KeymasterKittyB, CROW posted this message on their Facebook page: HURRICANE IAN UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who has extended their thoughts and reached out in concern. Despite how events have unfolded, we feel lucky to have so much support from our community, state, and friends of CROW.
All CROW staff members, students, patients, and ambassadors are safe! We are doing our best to get to CROW to assess damages, but recognize the rescue and recovery of those who remain on the island should be prioritized! We are committed to getting back to our mission as soon as possible and we are currently working to develop alternate plans for wildlife care. We are so thankful for you all! Shoutout to our incredible staff and students who HEROICALLY cared for our wildlife patients and ambassadors during this catastrophic storm!-

KeymasterUPDATE for 9/29/2022 7:35pm: We are happy to share that all cameras are accounted for – Camera 1 (nest tree), Camera 2 and Camera 3 (pond cam). Unfortunately, the tree that Camera 3 was installed (pond cam) fell. The camera is still attached and appears to not have any obvious damage. There are a few others trees down near the pond. There was some damage to the storage barns (roofs, doors and they took in lots of water).
Our SWFEC family has been requesting information on where to make donations. If you would like to donate, please visit: Southwest Florida Eagle Cam Foundation: http://www.southwestfloridaeaglecam.com/
New photos credited SWFEC and MLiz (3rd photo).
Please remember to not reply to this thread. Use the “OPEN DISCUSSION” for posting. Thank you!

At this time we do not have any update from wskrsnwings. But with the amount of damage in the area, I’m sure she is having quite a bit to take care of and might not have cell coverage (many in the area do not have cell coverage, as it is common in situations like this that cell coverage is limited to rescue operations). I’m sure she will post when she is able to. Thank you for your concern.

KeymasterHyperTyler, there wouldn’t be any issue as to the eagles not recognizing their territory.

KeymasterKillianKitty, yes, there is another nest in the west pasture. The eagles have worked on it for a few years, but have always changed their mind and gone back to the original pasture nest. One season Great Horned Owls used what we have called Nest2. At this time we are not sure if Nest2 is still there (or even if the tree it is built on is). We will update as information is available.

KeymasterUPDATE FROM CAMERA OWNERS: A friend of Desiree Deliz (one of the local photograhers) was able to go to Harriet and M15’s nest tree. She reports that the nest is gone, but the nest tree remains. The fence is damaged and there are people there fixing it. Harriet and M15 have not been spotted.
This is second hand information. Will continue to update and share any photos that are provided. IF the nest tree is sound, it is likely the pair will rebuild. They may decide to rebuild in another location (not sure what nest 2 tree/nest looks like at this time). But there is plenty of time for rebuilding. Thank you for positive thoughts!

KeymasterAs of September 27, 2020 at 11pm it appears Harriet and M15 are roosting in the nest tree. They remained away from the nest most of the day. All cameras are now offline and will most likely remain offline until the storm passes through. If you are in the path of the storm, please stay safe! Photo shows the last photo of the nest tree before the pond camera went offline.

KeymasterHello xmkeon, it appears the eagles are roosting in the nest tree this evening. The cameras are offline at this time and will most likely remain offline until after the storm passes by. Wildlife seek shelter to hunker down during inclement weather. We all hope they will remain safe.
