M15 and F23 enjoy E23’s adventures as much as E23 seems to. F23 was perched in the nest tree when E23 fledged, and M15 rewarded E23 with a fish. Since that eventful day, E23 has not missed a beat or tree in the pasture. E23 is a fabulous flyer and has ventured to places near and far. Each day is a new journey, and E23 is finding interesting and exciting places to explore. E23 discovered the pond, hesitated at the edge, dipped a talon in the water, and then got in for a proper bath. M15 and F23 were nearby to watch E23’s first experience in the pond. Dad and Momma brought fish for E23’s new accomplishment. E23 has frolicked regularly at the pond bank, dragging sticks and getting sips of water.
M15 and F23 rest easy as their baby grows into a stunning Juvenile Eagle. E23 flew to perch between M15 and F23 one afternoon, an extraordinary sight to observe. M15 and F23 usually roost away from the nest tree and leave E23 to tackle the overnight hours alone. F23 arrived to perch with E23 when a storm brought high winds and rain. E23 endured and recovered from strikes by the pesky owl. E23 becomes defensive with other birds, especially the chasing crows. All these events can happen every day in the life of an Eagle.
E23 has learned many lessons over the last 12 weeks and passes with top grades. E23 is just about fully grown and has gained confidence. E23 is encouraged to be aggressive at mealtime and learns to eat the food, or another will steal it. E23 observes as M15 and F23 secure the territory from intruders. E23 has been nurtured and guided by excellent Eagle parents. E23 will remain in the area to sharpen skills and add instrumental tools for E23’s future survival. Nest Notes by dadsjazz
