E24 and E25 are cruising into week 4 as two flourishing Eaglets experiencing remarkable growth. They eat so well that they have not been hungry for a minute, even though they eagerly step up when food is delivered. E24 will give E25 a peck or two to keep their place established. E25 has learned to wait patiently for their turn. The rivalry for food is minimal since there has been an abundance. E25 is catching up nicely in size to E24, and they can almost sit beak to beak.
E24 and E25 have begun marathon preening sessions of all the new feathers breaking through. Their fluffy natal down disappears as their coats of thermal down grow in. Pin feathers resemble little paintbrushes on wing tips and will soon appear on growing tails. E24 and E25 flap sprawling wings to begin building their future flight muscles. E24 and E25 are getting more strength and balance in their legs as they scamper around the nest. Their big yellow feet almost look like they don’t belong.
E24 and E25 keep busy when not resting or eating by picking up nesting and small sticks, biting on leftovers, and watching for M15 and F23. They freely explore the boundaries of the nest and possibly dream of one day reaching for a new perch.
