Fish & More- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 12

E4’s day began with the usual morning stretch and wing warm up. The day started off with light breezes that allowed E4 to lift higher. Ozzie and Harriet were found in the pasture in the late morning working on prey that Harriet brought in. It was an armadillo that may have met its demise on the road. It was too heavy to lift into the nest so they each ate from it to lighten the load. Harriet managed to fly to one of the dead pasture trees with the prey in her grasp. After a short rest she flew to one of the roadside pines and rested again. She then made a sweeping flight to gain enough lift to make it to the attic branch and then to the nest. E4 was eager for her arrival after watching Mom and Dad preparing the meal. Ozzie and Harriet are a great team and work together to keep E4 fed and growing strong.

Ozzie arrived in the afternoon with one fish followed soon by another. Food was plentiful and quite a variety today. E4 self fed and swallowed a fish tail in one gulp just like Mom does. A quick rain storm came through, then E4 dried off in the breezes. E4 was moving sticks and fish and armadillo parts to fluff up a place to sleep after a busy day in a young eaglet’s life.
