Quiet Day Eating & Perching- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for April 18

E4 greeted the day vocalizing while perched on the porch branch just off the nest. Mom and Dad were perched side by side in the Cam 2 tree vocalizing too. Ozzie and Harriet flew off in search of the day’s food. E4 took a flight around the pasture and landed in one of the pond trees. Ozzie returned to the nest with a large fish. E4 was very fast to arrive “squeezing” all the way to the nest. Ozzie quickly hopped up to the attic branch as E4 pounced and mantled the fish. E4 did a good job tearing into the fish and eating it without help. Ozzie later delivered a squirrel to the nest. Harriet and E4 dashed to the nest almost arriving at the same time. E4 went into mantle mode as Mom and Dad jumped out of the way, up to the attic branch again. Mom watched E4 work on eating the squirrel.

Ozzie brought yet another squirrel to the pond tree where he ate by himself. Ozzie then brought the remaining pieces of his squirrel to the nest to share with Harriet and E4. E4 was just about stuffed at this time but watched Harriet’s technique gulping down a large piece of the leftover. Mom did share some of her meal with E4. The bond between Mom and E4 is so tender. Ozzie and Harriet perched in the west tree line and E4 perched in the pond tree, all with full crops, for most of the breezy, cloudy afternoon.
