Weekly Nest Notes: Togetherness & Teamwork

Harriet and M15 have been spending more time at the nest as the season is progressing. They display their skills grabbing sticks from trees on the fly. M15 excels  in his abilities finding perfect nest materials, delivering them to the nest and placing them in just the right spot or where ever Harriet decides. She contributes to the building adding fresh pine and materials and “helping” M15 with nestorations as she oversees the tasks.

M15 has become an accomplished hunter and delivered a variety of food offerings to Harriet. She had a meal choice of her own in mind setting set her sight on chasing and catching an egret in mid air. She brought it back to the nest and did not share it with M15. Although fish are preferred, Eagles are opportunistic feeders, hunting and eating what is available.

Harriet and M15 work together as a team in preparation for all that is necessary to ensure a successful season of raising eaglets. They have been observed stopping by throughout the day and have roosted overnight in the nest tree. They protect and defend their nest and territory from any unwanted intruders. There had been some visiting juvenile and sub adult Eagles in the area over the week. Indications are pointing to new life in the pasture as Harriet and M15 cement their bond and dedication to each other. Nest Notes by dadsjazz.
