Harriet and M15 provided continuous care and incubation of their prized packages over the week. Around the clock, well-timed exchanges assure the Eggs will be warm and positioned just right. Harriet and M15 each take time away from nest duties to engage in soaring the skies, taking a refreshing bath in their pond and hunting prey for themselves. There have not been many food deliveries to the nest possibly to not attract others looking for a meal. Harriet and M15 continued bringing grasses and a stick or two keeping the nest and bowl soft, comforting and secure.
Harriet and M15 are extremely aware of their surroundings and senses are heightened at this critical time. They deter all who venture into their domain. A young sub-adult Eagle attempted to land in the nest as both vocalized their objections. The pesky owls have lessened their visits as M15 perches above his precious possessions keeping the night watch and fending them off. Harriet usually takes the overnight duties although, at times, she coaxes M15 to give up his turn by moving the grasses around him or picking lightly at his feathers.
Harriet and M15 have proven their success over the Seasons together. Their devotion to each other grows and their survival is a result of their diligence in protecting each generation they deliver to the world. In a few short weeks, their patience and dedication in the care of their precious Eggs will soon reveal the fruits of their labor. Nest Notes by dadsjazz.
