Weekly Nest Notes: “Egg-citing” Times Coming

image

Harriet and
M15 have accomplished many of the preparation for their soon to be family. They chose their original nest and began
bringing in sticks and nesting materials. M15 showered Harriet with a wide
variety of food gifts. They continued their courtship and engaged in mating
often. Harriet depends on M15’s loyalty, and he has proven his dedication to
her.  All signs point to Eggs and
Eaglets, but the process is in Harriet’s control.

Harriet and
M15 remained close to the nest and territory. A Juvenile Eagle paid a visit,
flew around the pasture, vocalized, and landed on a front snag tree. M15
reminded the Juvenile Eagle that the area is off-limits. M15 is attentive to
Harriet’s every move. She stood in and lay down in the nest to make sure the
nesting was just right. M15 would arrive to help and test out the bowl, too.
Harriet being the boss of the nest would rearrange his work to her liking. The
soft center of the nest bowl looks ready for Eggs.

Harriet and
M15’s timing this year may be off a little since there was a second clutch of Eggs
last Season, and E15 lingered in the area longer than usual. They have risen to
their challenges and carried on toward their mission. The “egg-citement” is
building while waiting for the new generation of Eagles.  Nest Notes by dadsjazz.
