Weekly Nest Notes: Ready for Hatching

image

Harriet and M15 have been steadfast as they patiently tended to their priceless Eggs over the month. They perform seamless exchanges on nest duty, and the long hours of incubation ready the Eggs for hatching. The process begins a few days earlier as the chick works to score the inside of the Egg. The “pip” or hole appears when the chick pokes through the shell, eventually cracking the Egg and breaking free into the world.

Harriet and M15’s strong bond and commitment allow them to accomplish their goal. Together they protect and defend their territory from intruders and make quick work getting them out of the area. Stealthy owls have made their presence known in the night hours, buzzing M15 as he watches over his family. Both seem annoyed at the owls doing what owls do to protect their family, too. M15 was disturbed by the owl but was unharmed and returned to claim his lookout place above Harriet and the Eggs..

Harriet and M15 preserver through the Seasons as each plays out differently from the last. They forge ahead, determined to succeed in populating the realm of Eagles. The welcomed additions are well on their way as hatching soon begins. They will be a beautiful sight to behold.  Nest Notes by dadsjazz
