Harriet and M15 ramped up nest refurbishing through the week as they ready the homestead for coming events. They search near and far for all the proper materials for the nest. They wrangle with the big sticks brought in to sturdy up the perimeter rails. Harriet arrives with her favorite pine boughs to decorate the nest. Grass and moss got added to the nicely forming nest center where M15 shimmies down to test the depth and softness.
Harriet and M15 have disagreements over the nest building, courtship, and chick-rearing. Harriet usually wins the argument and gets her way. Female Eagles are the dominant partner, and Harriet makes clear her intentions. M15 is a hard worker eager to please, and eventually, he defers to her. These behaviors cement their bond and assure that he will be loyal and support her and their offspring.
Harriet and M15 are a well-in-tuned team, working toward their sole purpose. As the season progresses, they become more sensitive to all activity in the area. They keep any intruders at bay and let all know that this is their territory. Their actions will produce a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for raising a new family of eaglets.
