SWFEC Nest Notes: Eagle Parents in Waiting

Harriet and M15 are inching closer to welcoming Eggs and Eaglets. Their nest appears well-constructed and sturdy as they continue to reinforce areas around the perimeter. The center is piled with soft moss and grass to make a comfy cozy bed. It is endearing to see M15 often lying in the nest bole to test it out. Signs point to Egg-laying, and Harriet typically lays two eggs in November. Dad seems eager for the new arrivals, and everything is on Eagle time, but mostly Mom’s time.

Harriet and M15 are exceptionally experienced Eagle parents, having raised 11 Eaglets to fledge and fly off to live their best Eagle lives.  Some unfortunate events that happened along the way are a reality in their everyday lives in the wild. Threats from intruders are dealt with swiftly and securely. The night-flying owls do what owls do and target Harriet and M15 in the nest tree from time to time. Owls defend what they perceive as a threat in the cover of darkness.

Harriet and M15 have had many more successes than losses in their lives, which enable them to continue with their mission. They live in the moment, prepare for the future and enjoy their accomplishments. All hope is for healthy and thriving offspring for well-deserving Eagle Parents. Nest Notes by dadsjazz
