M15 and F23 are ramping up the nestorations. They added many sticks and soft nesting, making the nest larger by the day. When M15 delivered a huge bromeliad/air plant, F23 seemed baffled by the addition as she tore it apart. F23 lay in and got a feel for the nest bole for the first time. M15 makes many checks of the bole throughout the day. F23 is taking more interest in processes that go into building a home for their future.
M15 and F23 are more united in securing the territory, flying in to flush out a visiting young Eagle. They alert and warn away any perceived intrusions. Nightfall in the nest tree finds a Great Horned Owl pair exploring the nest. They are making themselves at home, bringing their catches, and even taking a leftover fishtail. They seem to miss M15 and F23 by minutes in the early morning as they fly off to their daytime perch. Owls take over existing nests, so this beautiful nest looks very inviting. M15 and F23 will need extra vigilance in keeping their home owl free. They can accomplish this by laying eggs first and protecting the nest.
M15 and F23 have become closer and more comfortable with each other. F23 accepted a fish from M15 as a gift and stayed in the nest to eat. M15 stood watch as she finished her meal. She later took another fish and flew off to dine elsewhere. She will eventually come to trust M15 to protect her and meet her needs.They are getting in tune with each other as F23 participates on more levels.
