Weekly Nest Notes: Comfort and Joy

Harriet and M15 began the Holiday Season by welcoming their precious Eggs. They will spend the next weeks tending to and gently turning them every so often to keep them evenly incubated. The weather turned cooler and prompted Harriet and M15 to add more soft grasses and nesting for comfort and warmth. They both appear to perform nest duties with contentment and joy. Weekly Nest Notes: Welcome Special Deliveries!

Harriet and M15 focused on their original nest after building an alternate nest in a West pasture snag tree. It seemed unnatural for Harriet to be building Nest 2, especially since she has always had a strong affinity for her original nest. Harriet and M15 spend more time near the nest tree and are becoming more protective and… Read More »Weekly Nest Notes: Mom and Dad in Waiting

Weekly Nest Notes: Anticipating Coming Events

Harriet and M15 concentrated their efforts on their original nest over the week. It seems as if they have chosen it to keep as the home for their new family. M15 worked at record speed bringing in sticks for the rails and soft material for the bowl. He tests out the nest bowl regularly and adjusts the amount of fluff needed. Harriet perched on the attic branch, gave orders, and dropped into the nest to add her touches. Their frequent bonding is a sure sign that Eggs are on the… Read More »Weekly Nest Notes: Anticipating Coming Events
