Soaring With Confidence- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for April 5

E4 got a later start today and possibly needed more rest and recovery after the big day of first flight. It seems the little birds that were friends of E4, the eaglet, are not as fond of E4, the fledgling. The little birds dove at and annoyed E4 perched in the nest tree. E4 looked confident in another flight to the tree that may become a favorite. E4 was well shaded and relaxed among the pine branches. Ozzie landed in the nest with a prey item. E4 departed from the… Read More »Soaring With Confidence- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for April 5

Perfecting Skills- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 27

E4 was in wing flapping and fly hopping mode early on the cool morning. E4’s performed fancy footwork on the porch branch by changing position, hovering and standing on one leg. E4 joined Mom on the porch and had a near miss while taking the leap. Harriet had “Mom time” as she bathed in the pond today. Ozzie’s meal deliveries were again of the mystery type, a few looked very unusual and a few were squirrels. E4 observed Ozzie de-furred one of the food items. One delivery was a plain… Read More »Perfecting Skills- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 27

Fish & More- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 12

E4’s day began with the usual morning stretch and wing warm up. The day started off with light breezes that allowed E4 to lift higher. Ozzie and Harriet were found in the pasture in the late morning working on prey that Harriet brought in. It was an armadillo that may have met its demise on the road. It was too heavy to lift into the nest so they each ate from it to lighten the load. Harriet managed to fly to one of the dead pasture trees with the prey… Read More »Fish & More- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 12

Gathering Courage- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 10

E4 was warming up in the early hours with mighty wing flaps. E4 explored the nest for something to eat and then did a bit of preening. Mom and Dad flew on and off the nest several times, sometimes with a food delivery and sometimes with empty talons. Maybe one lesson for today was to keep E4 guessing. Ozzie delivered 2 fish in the morning, ate some and fed some to E4 until Mom arrived.
