It’s a Team Effort- Weekly Nest Notes

Harriet’s soft vocals in the predawn hours let M15 know that she would soon be departing from her incubation shift. Mom takes the overnight duties while Dad stands guard in the outer attic branch. They are a well coordinated team caring for their precious cargo. Harriet carefully rises up, looks at their Eggs and hops to the porch announcing her “Good Morning” vocal to the pasture. M15 quickly arrives in the nest to resume brooding. Harriet flies off to a nearby snag or the far off poles stretches, preens and… Read More »It’s a Team Effort- Weekly Nest Notes

The Nature of Eagle Life- Weekly Nest Notes

Harriet and M15 are following nature’s calling by continuing to build their bond and rebuild the nest to welcome a new generation of eaglets. Harriet instincts are solid as she surveys the nest each morning and takes flight to a nearby tree to find just the right branch. Harriet prefers to break branches and sticks from trees and M15 seems to have a stash of soft grasses and sticks in the pasture that he picks from to deliver to the nest. M15 has watched Harriet grab a branch and break… Read More »The Nature of Eagle Life- Weekly Nest Notes

Building the Bond & a Nest: Weekly Nest Update: October 21-25

Ozzie and Harriet have been working hard over the last weeks in their preparations leading into the time for egg laying. Ozzie has been diligent in his search for just the right sticks and nest material. He and Harriet have had a few squabbles over the proper arrangement of the deliveries. Ozzie is perfecting the nest bowl with his sit and shimmy move. Juvenile and sub adult eagles have been sighted in the area this week. Harriet and Ozzie spent a few days on alert and close to the nest… Read More »Building the Bond & a Nest: Weekly Nest Update: October 21-25

Exploring the Area Beyond – Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for April 14

E4 used the foggy morning to hide from the pesky birds in the upper banches of the nest tree. As the sun and warmth of the morning burned of the fog, E4 explored the pasture trees as Harriet perched contently in the nest tree. Ozzie was off on the hunt toward the river. Harriet flew off and returned with grasses for the nest. E4 made a mad dash to the nest tree seeking food only to find none. E4 flew off to the west pasture tree line to perch.  E4… Read More »Exploring the Area Beyond – Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for April 14

Breezy, Easy Sunday Morning- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 23

Ozzie and Harriet were observing E4’s morning wing workout as the day was dawning. Ozzie and Harriet flew off in opposite directions to begin their day. Harriet was spotted perched off in the distance on a high utility pole as she has been many times before. E4 took advantage of the breeze day using the gusts of wind to hover almost up to the attic. The length and height of E4’s hovering is increasing as E4 gains more confidence. Ozzie arrived on the nest with his prey and E4 was… Read More »Breezy, Easy Sunday Morning- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 23

All You Can Eat Fish- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 1

It was a clear and beautiful start to the morning. E4 was awake and doing the usual stretching and looking for morsels in the nest to snack on. Mom was already out on the hunt and returned with a fresh fish to start the day. This was the first of two fish deliveries by Harriet and then two more fish were brought by Ozzie. Harriet also managed to do some aerating after her arrival with a stick for the rails. E4 pitched in to help Mom with some housekeeping. E4… Read More »All You Can Eat Fish- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 1
