E15 & E16 seem to while away the hours relaxing in the shade of the moss-covered trees at the pond. Weekly Nest Notes: Fantastic Flyers

E15 and E16 are over 100 days old and have many of the tools they need for Eagle life on their own. They are strong, inquisitive, and eager Juvenile Eagles seeking new experiences. Their natural capacity for wonder finds them at the pond exploring and foraging through the plants and perching on the fences and trees. Nest Notes: Flights to Adventure

E15 and E16 have been quite the explorers over the week. With purpose and speed, E16 took the first flight off the porch branch to follow E15 and M15 with breakfast. E16’s fledge voyage was on July 1 to the Camera 2 tree with a perfect landing. E16 missed on the attempt to fly back to the nest and flew short trips from place to place. Weekly Nest Notes: Time for Flying & Discovery

E15 and E16 were kept occupied by Dad as Mom was off on a mini-vacation. E15 has been exploring the pasture and beyond. E16 has been comfortable staying at the home front waiting for a meal to be delivered. At this point in an Eaglet’s life, Moms are usually ready for them to move on. Weekly Nest Notes: Ready for the Freedom of Flight

E15 and E16 are turning 12 weeks old and look fully grown. They appear larger than Adults because of their longer wing and tail feathers that help them in flying and soaring. They weigh less than Adults but will build muscle mass as they mature.  Earlier in the week, E15 fledged accidentally while hopping the nest tree branches. Weekly Nest Notes: Branching & Flying!

E15 and E16 practiced throughout the week high hopping around the nest feeling the wind beneath their majestic wing. By week’s end, E15 had visited more of the branches on the nest tree. On Monday, June 15, thrill-seeker E15 flew to the outer branch from the attic and in an attempt to get back to the nest, ended up on a branch below the nest. Weekly Nest Notes: Mighty Wings Catching Air!

E15 and E16 are making great progress and are gaining strength and confidence. They catch the wind with their mighty wings, flapping, hopping, and jumping around the nest. E15 visited the veranda branch over the week and is comfortable perching, preening, winging, and watching the world go by. E15 studies the upper branches looking for the way to get there. Weekly Nest Notes: Breaking Records Along the Way

E15 and E16 are intelligent and observant Eaglets taking the lessons of Eagle life in stride. At 8 weeks old they are almost fully grown with magnificent wingspans that allow them to flap away,  jump, and gain airtime in the breezes. They are balanced and confident in their jaunts around the nest and time perched on the rails. E15 has been eyeing the veranda and porch branches and looking curiously the Starlings perched there. Weekly Nest Notes: Brilliant Beauties

E15 and E16 have begun to look so much alike over the week it is hard to tell one from the other. It was just about 7 weeks ago that these two were little helpless Hatchlings.  They now stand with balance and confidence while preening, walking the perimeter of the nest and flapping their amazing wings. Weekly Nest Notes: Winging, Walking & Watching

E15 and E16 are turning 6 weeks old and have come a very long way in a short time. They experienced rapid growth over the first month and are now building strength and coordination. They are becoming beauties with sparkling eyes and dark Juvenile feathers sprouting all over. E16 is catching up nicely to older sibling E15.
