Weekly Nest Notes: Limitless Lessons

Harriet and M15 have imparted many lessons to their Juvenile offspring, E10 and E11, who have been making serious strides in their skill levels. They have equally broken through most barriers including leaving the nest pasture flying across the busy road possibly to the river. Weekly Nest Notes: Exploration & Adventure

In the days since E10 and E11 embarked on their first flight, they have been out exploring their territory gaining confidence in their flying abilities and fulfilling their senses of adventure and curiosity.  They take off in a split second and fly skillfully and purposely, bounding from one place to another. Weekly Nest Notes: The Freedom of Flight

Weekly Nest Notes: Higher & Higher!

The week was a very active one as we watched E10 and E11 continue building their confidence and strength, working out their spectacular wings in the wind and hovering higher and higher. They ventured out farther on the branches looking for new places to go.  E10 being more adventurous was first to make it to the veranda branch. Weekly Nest Notes: Wings in the Wind

E10 and E11 frolicked in the warm breezy weather over the week and took every opportunity to use their majestic wings to catch the wind and lift themselves to higher heights.  Their daring high hops helped them move from the spike to the veranda and back to the nest smoothly and easily. Harriet and M15’s diligence in raising E10 and E11 have produced great rewards. These two active and healthy Eaglets have amassed a wealth of skills and behaviors and have surpassed many milestones over the last months. Weekly Nest Notes: Dynamic Duos

Harriet and M15 executed dramatic deliveries of food to the nest over the week further displaying their exceptional teamwork and dedication in providing for E10 and E11. Harriet flew low into the pasture and landed with a very large rabbit. She spent considerable time de-furring and eating some of the prey to lighten the load. Weekly Nest Notes: Standing Tall

E10 and E11 are accomplishing quite a list of milestones reached. Their strength and balance have multiplied and they are standing tall while walking around the nest. Their trips to the edge to watch the big wide world have drawn many gasps from onlookers.  Windy days allows the unfolding of mighty wings, feeling the lift from the air and performing small hops while “wingercizing”. Weekly Nest Notes: Family First!

The weeks seem to fly by so to speak as E10 and E11 gain height, weight, juvenile feathers, wingspan, appetites and the beginnings of engaging in Eagle behaviors. The distinguishing characteristics are so minimal that it is hard to tell one from the other at times. E10, as the first hatched seems to be slightly ahead of E11, standing for longer periods of time, walking across the nest and starting to use those big feet to hold onto items and tear them apart.
