Harriet and Ozzie have proven time and time again their strong bond and devotion to each other and the next generation of Eagles. Ozzie began early mornings out on the hunt for Harriet’s meals. Ozzie and Harriet have been working hard over the last weeks in their preparations leading into the time for egg laying. Ozzie has been diligent in his search for just the right sticks and nest material. He and Harriet have had a few squabbles over the proper arrangement of the deliveries. October 1 marked the official start of Bald Eagle nesting season. Southwest Florida’s favorite Eagle pair Harriet and Ozzie made a strong appearance for the followers of the cameras and the local people who visit the nest. The day was once again cloudy and windy but it didn’t stop E4’s performance of wing flapping and branch hopping. E4’s sprite like behaviors are comical at times. E4 was fly hopping around the nest carrying sticks and things. Mom and Dad were perched together in the upper tree branches watching E4’s progress. Gathering Courage- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for March 10

 E4 was warming up in the early hours with mighty wing flaps. E4 explored the nest for something to eat and then did a bit of preening. Mom and Dad flew on and off the nest several times, sometimes with a food delivery and sometimes with empty talons. Maybe one lesson for today was to keep E4 guessing. Ozzie and Harriet flew off in different directions early leaving E4 in charge of the nest. E4 took advantage of the breezy day with a lot of wing flapping, with nest renovation and rest in between . The atmosphere on the South West Florida Eagle nest was one of peace and rest. After a trying week, Ozzie and Harriet had great success in their hunting to satisfy the growing appetites of E3 and E4.
