The Day of Rest- Nest Notes, Photos & Video for Jan. 19

The atmosphere on the South West Florida Eagle nest was one of peace and rest. After a trying week, Ozzie and Harriet had great success in their hunting to satisfy the growing appetites of E3 and E4. Smaller, younger E4 almost ate a whole fish in a private feeding by Mom and may soon be catching up to larger sibling E3. Ozzie delivered several fish to the nest today. Harriet and Ozzie brought branches, moss and a pinecone with greenery. They worked on building up the nest rails, did some… Read More »The Day of Rest- Nest Notes, Photos & Video for Jan. 19

The Nature of Nature- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for Jan 14

Everyone was awake and moving early on this warm morning. E3 and E4 seemed patiently waiting for their meal delivery as Harriet was perched in the nest tree. The E’s flapped their little and growing wings and scooted around the nest until the rain began. Without Mom or Dad to serve as umbrella they shielded each other from the warm rains.  All was well until Ozzie delivered prey to the nest. It looked as if E4 lunged forward with a mini mantle but then stronger E3 got to the food.… Read More »The Nature of Nature- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for Jan 14

The “crib” rails are getting a bit higher as the nest bowl is seeming to disappear from E3 and E4 scooting around the nest with their little awkward waddle.  Mom provided shade for the sweet napping E’s… Read More »A Peaceful Sunday- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for Jan 12.

Ozzie on Call- Nest Notes, Photos & Videos for Jan 11

In the early morning hours Harriet and Ozzie were perched in the upper branches of the nest tree vocalizing and watching over their sleeping baby E’s. Louder and hungrier E4 is good at getting the first bites. Both are learning great lessons on the way to becoming big E’s. It Takes Two- Nest Notes, Videos & Photos for Jan 10

Ozzie and Harriet have had great success hunting and fishing lately. It takes the two of them working together to feed their hungry and rapidly growing family. She quickly moved a branch to block the curious little E’s path. Both E’s are growing so much they could be seen from the ground and the cam… Read More »It Takes Two- Nest Notes, Videos & Photos for Jan 10

E’s at the Smorgasbord- Nest Notes for Jan 7.

Harriet kept the growing little E’s warm and toasty in the cold, windy overnight hours. The sun helped to warm the nest as the day went on but the wind was still cool. This weather didn’t seem to bother E3 and E4 at all. Their day was filled with feeding, sleeping and growing. They are entering week 3 in their growth stage. Their appetite is growing along with them and Mom and Dad have been diligently keeping the food deliveries coming. Mom and Dad both took sweeping flights around the… Read More »E’s at the Smorgasbord- Nest Notes for Jan 7.
